Review
Overture (formerly GoTo) is, probably, the world's leading pay-per-click search engine as their listings are incorporated into a variety of leading search engines and portals. (Pay-per-click means that you place bids on relevant keywords (the more you bid the higher up the results you come), and only pay a person clicks on your search term).
At the time of writing, minimum bids for new advertisers now start at $0.05 per click, and go up in $0.01 increments.

We have found Overture very easy to use: you have full control over the title and descriptions of your listings, can add more keywords as needed, and can also delete keywords. A range of powerful tools make it easy to manage your bids and money in your account, plus to get lots of keywords in quickly: you have the option of submitting a spreadsheet of your listings.
One notable recent addition is an excellent auto-bidding feature: You set the maximum that you're prepared to bid for each of your keywords and it raises or lowers your actual bid, up to your limit, to maintain the best rank possible.
All keyword bids that you submit to Overture are subject to editorial review (you can only bid on keywords that are relevant to your site), which helps keeps the results useful to web surfers.
Overture does seem to have quite a lot of guidelines about which keywords you can bid on, the content of pages that you can link to, etc. So, we think that it is worth reading the info they publish, before signing up, to check you feel comfortable working within their rules.
Conclusion
We have used Overture for some years now, and it's always been a breeze. We've been very happy with the results and Return On Investment. We've also been impressed by the frequent improvements to their service that have occurred over the years.
